Texas A&M University is among the first to launch concept3D's new virtual tour software: Xplorer Virtual Tour, a powerful VR-enabled system that Texas A&M is using to give visitors an impressive and realistic way to experience campus life from anywhere in the world. Xplorer makes it easy and fun for visitors to explore Texas A&M on their own terms and at their own pace, and the system is easy to update and customize.
Xplorer Virtual Tour can be utilized for its capabilities as a stand alone system, or as an add-on module to concept3D's CampusBird interactive map platform - used by hundreds of universities, colleges and schools.
Xplorer Virtual Tour was featured at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, which went down in early March. Users were impressed by Xplorer's ability to transport them from Austin to College Station through concept3D's virtual reality software. "Having Xplorer Virtual Tour at SXSW was the perfect way to instantly transport people from Austin to College Station right from the trade show floor or from Texas A&M House at Hotel Van Zandt," said Michael Green, Sr. Graphic Designer, Texas A&M. "No more viewbooks or handouts, having immersive 360 degree video that anyone can access is truly the next best thing from actually standing on campus. Many people even walked up and asked if it was a live video feed! We gave away over 2,000 custom Texas A&M branded Google Cardboard viewers letting everyone know that they could take a campus tour from wherever they are in the world, just by using their smartphone. Having the Xplorer Virtual Tour was a game changer at a global event like SXSW." With Xplorer Virtual Tour, visitors can toggle between 360 degree-enabled tour and virtual reality mode for use with a mobile VR headset. Xplorer uniquely allows visitors to orient themselves with an in-window map, or “Minimap", that shows their location and direction, as well as allows them to use the map to jump to and explore other locations. Additionally, the new system gives clients full control of the virtual experience and makes it easy to add or update tour content at any time.
